The Red and Black Mulches are very different from the Top Dress Mulch. They are made from ground up lumber and pallet material. After grinding, the chips are colored either red or black using an organic dye. Mulch dyes are similar to wood stains and will not wash off after they dry. Colored mulch will typically maintain it’s color for a year or more.

Over the past few years, colored mulch has become very popular among landscape designers. It is used to create a color effect or color contrast in either in flowerbeds, around trees, or along walk ways.

You can apply Black or Red Mulch anytime of the year in a 4 - 6 inch layer for best results.
